Mobility is Medicine Hosts "Sold Out" Workshop at Cedars-Sinai Hospital
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25, 2018
LOS ANGELES , Sept. 25, 2018/PRNewswire/ -- Mobility is Medicine (MiM) is pleased to announce its highly successful first MiM Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) workshop at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on August 20. This high-impact event was supported by the Tampa VA, Safety National, Hospital Association of Southern CA, Hospital Council of Northern and Central CA, and others. Attendees included representatives of the risk community and nursing schools, along with clinicians, researchers, and vendors. The workshop was free of charge to attendees.
MiM's workshop generated an enthusiastic response, bringing together the vendor and insurance communities, and top thought leaders in SPHM, to address the topic of "Workers' Safety and Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Operational Excellence."
The room was filled to capacity, with a waitlist of hopeful entrants. More than 80 attendees joined Gail Powell-Cope, Co-Director of CINDRR at the Tampa VA; Guy Fragala, SPHM expert; Danielle Gabele, SPHM Coordinator at Cedars-Sinai; Amber Perez, co-author of the Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool and Director of Clinical Services at Wy'East; Andrew Rich, Clinical Manager at Arjo; Alleen Wilson, Senior Risk Control Manager at Safety National; and others.
"I found the MiM workshop to be very informative and knowledge building," says Anthony Simmonson, CIEE, EH&S Specialist III at UC San Diego and Vice Chair of the UC Office of the President Ergonomics Work Group. "It was also a great opportunity to meet with other professionals and discuss the challenges of safe patient handling at different locations around the states."
The event was a tremendous success. Presenters answered a variety of questions from attendees, and participated in an "Industry Passions" activity, which fostered highly productive solutions-oriented dialogue between clinical participants and vendors.
This workshop was part of a larger Mobility is Medicine webinar and workshop series that is set to continue into 2019.
