Quadrant Biosciences Teams up With Autism Speaks to Provide Support to Families and Healthcare Providers on the Path from Autism Diagnosis to Early Intervention
As part of its commitment to helping people with autism and their families and increasing early intervention through early diagnosis, Quadrant Biosciences announced today that they will support Autism Speaks’ mission with funding to expand delivery of reliable information, resources and support through the Autism Speaks Autism Response Team.
Through this collaboration, Quadrant Biosciences and Autism Speaks will engage in a concerted effort to equip both healthcare providers and families with the education, confidence and tools they need on the journey from diagnosis to early intervention. The support from Quadrant Biosciences will bolster the non-profit organization’s Autism Response Team, which helps families with a series of comprehensive tool kits and access to personalized support following an autism diagnosis.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can affect a person’s communication abilities and social interaction, and often causes repetitive patterns of behavior and a narrow range of interests. According to the Centers for Disease Control, approximately one in 59 children in the U.S. is currently diagnosed with ASD, a tenfold increase in prevalence over the past 40 years. Research shows that early intervention can provide the best outcomes, so a timely diagnosis can help children with autism and their families at a critical stage along their new journey to have the best quality of life possible, no matter where the individual falls on the autism spectrum.
“Early intervention greatly improves outcomes for many people with autism, and our Autism Response Team and Autismspeaks.org are excellent resources for families or individuals looking for guidance,” said Thomas Frazier, Autism Speaks chief science officer. “We are so grateful for the support from Quadrant Biosciences to help us provide more families with greater access to support during the critical time that follows an autism diagnosis.”
“ASD can have a profound impact on families,” said Quadrant Biosciences Founder and Chief Executive Officer Richard Uhlig. “From the lengthy diagnostic process, to the lack of clarity and guidance regarding next steps, the journey can be challenging. Our company’s focus on the importance of early intervention dovetails perfectly with Autism Speaks’ mission to provide support for families navigating these often-difficult waters. We are honored to be able to partner with an organization like Autism Speaks, and humbled to be in a position to help families in the autism community.”
