Atlantic Coast Aesthetics Posts New 'Ask Dr. Pane' Blog and Video about a Tummy Tuck Revision

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Thomas A. Pane, a double-board certified plastic surgeon and founder of Atlantic Coast Aesthetics, posted a new "Ask Dr. Pane" video and blog to his website discussing if and when a tummy tuck revision is a good idea.

As Dr. Pane noted, a patient asked: "I recently had a tummy tuck at a different practice and I'm noticing a lot of loose skin. Should I have a tummy tuck revision?"

After reviewing the photographs, he noted the person's skin is not hanging over when standing, but it does display a pronounced amount of laxity when the patient pulls on it. Because Dr. Pane does not have a complete medical history of the patient, he was not comfortable with the prospect of further surgery without learning more about the patient and seeing "before" photos.

However, he noted the patient does have a number of options. While a second tummy tuck is unlikely to be of much value based on the photos, the patient could possibly have a tummy tuck with a vertical scar, or what is known as a "reverse tummy tuck," where the loose skin is excised and the skin below is drawn up to around the patient's ribcage.

"While both of these procedures will leave a visible scar which cannot be concealed under a bathing suit or lingerie…some patients may feel more visible scars are a reasonable tradeoff to reduce the skin laxity they notice," Dr. Pane wrote.
