Aidoc Partners With the ACR Data Science Institute on Industry-first AI Validation Process
CHICAGO, Nov. 27, 2018
CHICAGO, Nov. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Aidoc, a leading provider of AI solutions for radiologists, revealed today that their always-on solution for automatic flagging and prioritization of critical CT cases is in full use at the University of Rochester Medicine, saving lives by ensuring that urgent cases are quickly diagnosed and treated.
Aidoc's solution is seamlessly integrated with Nuance's PowerScribe Workflow Orchestration platform that delivers AI-powered workflow efficiency and accuracy to improve disease detection, diagnosis, follow-up and treatment. Together, Aidoc and Nuance enable radiologists to seamlessly realize the value of AI.
Combining Aidoc with Nuance's Workflow Orchestration platform to ensure radiologist worklists re-prioritized based on detections made by AI, enables the two companies to contribute to the recently launched American College of Radiology (ACR) DSI ASSESS-AI registry. This framework provides an industry-first post-market surveillance and continuous validation of the AI solution's performance and impact in real clinical settings. This allows health systems to identify the right solution for improving patient care in their clinical setting.
"Our goal in the ACR DSI is to provide clarity on the emerging junction of AI and real clinical care," said Bibb Allen Jr., MD, FACR, ACR DSI Chief Medical Officer. "Our work with Aidoc and Nuance has demonstrated, for the first time, the ability to close the loop of AI validation, solving one of the burning challenges of the current ecosystem."
"With Aidoc and Nuance together, patients with critical pathologies are prioritized in the radiologist's worklist, accelerating time to patient diagnosis and treatment," said David L. Waldman, MD, PhD, Chair of Imaging Sciences at University of Rochester Medical Center "By participating in the ACR registry program, we also ensure the highest quality of patient care and lead the way for quality of care improvement in other hospitals as well. We're excited to be able to demonstrate this complete solution in action on our premises."
"Like Aidoc, we are committed to transforming the practice of diagnostic imaging with solutions that help radiologists amplify their expertise and demonstrate their value through the diagnostic report," said Karen Holzberger, vice president and general manager, Healthcare Diagnostics, Nuance. "PowerScribe Workflow Orchestration, which is integrated into Aidoc's AI-driven solution, markedly improves efficiency report turn around time, giving radiologists more time to focus on what matters most – the care teams and patients they serve."
"Aidoc works hand-in-hand with Nuance, so that AI can work for doctors, and not the reverse," said Aidoc's CEO Elad Walach. "We're proud to be helping both radiologists and patients in Rochester University Hospital, and to be working with Nuance and the ACR to provide real clinical validation of the benefits of AI to radiologists."
