Smithers Avanza Bioanalytical Services Adds Capabilities With Second Facility on East Coast
Smithers Avanza, a contract research organization supporting the pharmaceutical industry, announced that its Bioanalytical Services division will expand its North American operations with the addition of a laboratory in New Jersey. The new site will add 18,500 sq. ft of laboratory space to support client demand for services and will be GLP-, GCP-, GMP-compliant and CLIA certified.
“Smithers Avanza continues to grow our company footprint, staff, and service portfolio. The second site will offer new capabilities such as qPCR, flow cytometry, and high-resolution mass spec,” said Ira DuBey, Executive Vice President, Bioanalytical Services, Smithers Avanza. “Expanding our lab space helps us create capacity and add services and instrumentation so that we can continue to support our clients with the highest level of service.”
As part of the expansion, the company will add translational science capabilities in drug discovery bioassays, biomarker discovery, mechanism of action (MoA) studies, ultra-sensitive biomarker studies by HRMS, and others to support biotherapeutic development. At the New Jersey site, Smithers Avanza will provide comprehensive bioanalytical services for gene therapy, CAR-T/TCR, vaccines, bi-/multi-specific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates and biosimilar/bio betters among many other types of biologics. Smithers Avanza is currently hiring additional personnel to support the growth of these services and therapeutic areas. The expansion is scheduled for completion in early 2019.
Smithers Avanza Bioanalytical Services is an exhibitor and Elite sponsor at the annual WRIB meeting, to be held April 1-5, in New Orleans, Louisiana. To schedule an appointment at the conference, contact Ira DuBey at Ira.Dubey@smithers.com.
