ST. HELENA, Calif., Jan. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Effective Jan. 1, 2019, California Grower Foundation has become Ag Health Benefits Alliance of Northern California (AHBA).  "We are excited to launch this next chapter in our organization's history with a name that speaks to our mission: To provide agricultural employers with benefits resources to attract and retain a healthy, productive workforce," says Executive Director Rebecca Barlow.

AHBA was founded under the name California Winegrower Foundation and began doing business as California Grower Foundation in the mid-1970's. "In recent times, we were often confused with other similarly named organizations and foundations" Barlow notes. "We decided a new name was needed to better describe the work we do and the audience we serve."

AHBA's vision is to be the local agricultural community's most trusted source for competitive employee benefit programs and educational information. "We are here to deliver expert, bilingual service that can solve healthcare needs in this ever-changing landscape," explains Barlow.  In addition to compliance administration and flexible health plan features, AHBA offers dental, vision, life, long-term disability, an Employee Assistance Program and a full library of HR resources.

The rebrand includes a new website, And a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for employer members and their participants can be found here.

AHBA's members were dedicated to providing health benefits for employees, including seasonal workers, long before it was required by law. Today, AHBA provides those benefits to more than 1,500 agricultural employees.
