Cancer Treatment Centers of America® Chicago Recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence™ for the Sixth Year in a Row

ZION, Ill., Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- For the sixth consecutive year, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) Chicago has been recognized as a top center in the country for providing quality breast cancer care by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC®) program. CTCA® Chicago is the only center in Illinois, and one of only 57 centers nationally, to be recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence™, reinforcing the hospital's position as a national leader in breast cancer care.

"This distinguished honor represents a commitment by CTCA to provide the highest level of quality breast health care to patients in their community," said Kimberly Bolin, executive director of the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC). "Measuring and comparing quality performance is essential in assessing patient care and allocating resources where improvement is desired."

As part of the NCBC, the NQMBC is a voluntary program that identifies quality of care measures, provides immediate access to quality information and allows breast centers to compare their performance with other centers across the United States and beyond. In addition to the requirements to become a Certified Participant, the applicant must have supplied 90 percent of the measures for which their quality breast cancer type should be able to measure performance and performed above the 25th percentile.

"CTCA Chicago is proud to be recognized for six years in a row as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence," said Pete Govorchin, President and CEO of CTCA Chicago. "Efforts to ensure patient safety and clinical quality are important, and we are proud to work alongside the NQMBC to deliver high quality care to the patients and families we serve."

Additionally, the Breast Cancer Center at CTCA Chicago is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI®) Certification Program for meeting the highest standards of quality cancer care.
