Accord Healthcare’s Alex Falgas Scoops ‘Business Development Executive of the Year’ Award
Alex Falgas, Vice President Corporate Development Europe & MENA Accord Healthcare has been awarded the ‘Business Development Executive of the Year’ at the Pharmaceutical Licensing Group Awards.
The ‘Business Development Executive of the Year’ honours an individual who has exceeded expectations and made an exceptional or unique contribution in support of a business development deal. The awards were created by the Pharmaceutical Licensing Group to recognise the contributions and achievements of executives working within the healthcare business development community.
Alex was singled out for his considerable role in a number of major acquisitions including Combino Pharm asset in Spain and Portugal, a disused manufacturing site in Newcastle, and Actavis UK & Ireland. The latter is the most important acquisition to capitalise on Accord’s inward investment for the UK market and was the biggest foreign direct investment post-Brexit to the UK for all sectors.
Alex also led the team that was involved in acquiring the rights for biosimilar trastuzumab; that has the potential to bring this medicine to breast cancer patients across 70 countries including Europe, the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
James Burt, Executive Vice President, Europe and MENA, “We are all very proud of Alex and the team he leads. The acquisitions he helped to facilitate have been instrumental in making us one of the leading players in the generics market. More importantly, however, the scale and capabilities that come with these acquisitions will help us to deliver affordable high-quality medicines to more patients across Europe.
We believe our people are what set us apart, and we invest heavily in their development and give them the freedom and trust to make good decisions. Alex embodies our core values of innovation, entrepreneurship and passion, and we are thrilled that the industry has recognised his exceptional talent through this award.”
Alex Falgas “I am very passionate about the work we do at Accord and to be recognised in this way is very humbling. When I joined Accord 12 years ago, we were a small company with a big vision to make life-changing drugs accessible for everyone. Now we are one of the fastest growing companies in Europe and while I am gratified of what we have achieved, I am very excited about what lies ahead.”
