APM brings the project community together face to face to mark its 50th Anniversary

Association for Project Management (APM), is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion is bringing project professionals together face to face for the first time since 2019 - for its flagship Power of Projects conference, taking place in London on Thursday 9th June.   

The conference will focus on the key themes of APM’s 50th anniversary celebrations: leadership, sustainability and diversity, and is delighted to be welcoming special guests who have each made a significant impact on society in recent years and since the start of the pandemic.

In an engaging keynote speech Catherine Green OBE, Manufacturing Lead of the Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccine will talk about the integral role she played in the development of the vaccine in 2020, arguably one of the most influential projects of our time.

Ahead of the Power of Projects conference, Catherine Green said: “I’m really looking forward to sharing insights into the development of the Covid-19 vaccine with the Power of Projects audience. This project tested my entire team’s skills of resilience, communication, collaboration and agility.  I’ll share the challenges encountered along the way, and highlight some of the valuable lessons learned. This year being APM’s 50th Anniversary, what better time to celebrate the success of projects in the UK and around the world.”

APM will also welcome Ellie Orton CEO, NHS Charities Together, who will be speaking about leadership skills that project managers need to navigate challenges in high pressure situations, such as those she has experienced in leading NHS Charities Together throughout the course of the pandemic and beyond.

A special panel discussion ‘Projects for a better future’ marking APM’s 50th Anniversary will also take place, and will explore perceptions of project success and, in particular, how we measure the return on investment in terms of societal benefits.

The Power of Projects Conference will take conference will take place at Park Plaza London Riverbank on Thursday 9 June.  Sessions focusing on the themes of leadership, sustainability and diversity will take place throughout the day, and will offer project professionals valuable, practical ideas and knowledge to apply to their own work to achieve even greater project success – including interactive workshops, round tables, and networking opportunities.
