New AI editing tool to speed up editing manuscripts

~ Scientific editing brand launches advanced AI engine allowing researchers to save time with technical editing of manuscripts ~

London, January 3, 2023: Editage, a scientific editing brand of CACTUS, has launched an advanced AI engine, Digital Editing, to help researchers make accurate, high-quality pre-submission language and technical edits for scientific manuscripts in less than five minutes. The new tool is trained on 2.5 million editor hours and over three billion words of academic text to ensure that technical aspects of papers, like subject-specific terminology, units of measurement, and equations are edited accurately in less time.

Digital Editing, powered by PaperPal, uses machine learning algorithms to identify language and technical errors in manuscripts and provides intuitive suggestions to help authors improve their submission quality. Unlike other online grammar checkers and language editing tools, Digital Editing is made specifically for scientific content and therefore, is more sensitive to the nuances of academic language and style.

Abhishek Goel, Co-Founder and CEO of science communications and technology company, CACTUS, said: “For 20 years, Editage has played a pivotal role in accelerating publication success for approximately 800,000 researchers across more than 192 countries. Digital Editing adds to this by providing rapid alternative suggestions to language, grammar, readability, and stylistic errors to help authors refine submissions and improve their chances of securing publication. The machine learning tool will also detect plagiarism and fix technical issues according to standard journal guidelines, lowering researchers’ editing workloads and saving significant time in the review process.

“Whether you are an English-Second-Language (ESL) speaker or a post-doctoral candidate juggling classes with submission deadlines, Digital Editing will help you to achieve editorial compliance in as little as five minutes”.

Digital Editing is available to researchers everywhere for $29 USD and is currently being used by more than 40 leading scholarly publishers and societies. This includes Wolters Kluwer, The Royal Society, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Emerald Publishing, and Institute of Physics (IOP). Furthermore, the tool uses a database of manuscripts from well-reputed editorial boards, like BELS and ISMPP, to perform English editing with a better accuracy and precision rate than other similar AI editing tools.
