London, May 2024: The UK’s leading specialist in at-home diagnostic tests Newfoundland Diagnostics, has today announced a new retail partnership with UK pharmacy chain, Avicenna.

13 of Newfoundland Diagnostics’ at-home tests will now be available across all 135 branches of Avicenna pharmacies, including its cholesterol, bowel health, iron deficiency and HIV tests. These tests have been selected to encourage Brits to take control of their health across a wide range of health issues.

Newfoundland Diagnostics’ tests aim to alleviate pressure on the NHS at a time when almost one in four patients have gone to A&E after failing to access a GP.

Having launched in Tesco, Boots and Superdrug last year, Newfoundland Diagnostics’ latest expansion sees the medical brand continue to grow its presence nationwide, helping to speed up and simplify the diagnostic process for patients.

Through its partnership with online GP Doctorcall, those who test positive for any health concern can book a virtual GP appointment, further reducing the strain on local services and the NHS and helping earlier detection.

Co-founder of Newfoundland Diagnostics, Frederick Manduca, said: “We started Newfoundland Diagnostics to provide the public with an opportunity to take their health into their own hands, as well as helping to alleviate pressures on the NHS.

“Through our partnership with Avicenna, we can better access more local communities across the UK, allowing them to take control of their health at a time when GP surgeries are being pushed to their limits.

“By being available in more stores across the UK, we hope to help both health-concerned Brits and the NHS during this unprecedented time.”

An Avicenna spokesperson, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Newfoundland Diagnostics to our pharmacies and encourage customers to utilise at-home tests as the first port of call.

“The rise of at-home testing is beneficial in cutting down wait times at GP surgeries by allowing Brits to access healthcare at a pharmacy level. Streamlining the process of initial test to diagnosis is crucial, and Newfoundland’s tests help accelerate this.”
