Velocity Clinical Research appoints Ines Abs as Country Head for Germany, strengthening European Leadership amid market consolidation

Velocity Clinical Research, the world’s leading integrated research site organization, has appointed Ines Abs as its new Country Head of Germany, reinforcing its commitment to growth in Europe at a time when other site networks are retreating from the region.

Ines brings over two decades of experience in clinical research operations, having held senior leadership roles across Germany, South Africa, and Central and Eastern Europe. Most recently, she served as Director for Central EMEA and South Africa at Synexus, where she oversaw a network of more than 10 dedicated and partner sites, and led performance across delivery, quality, revenue, and patient recruitment. Her appointment comes as Velocity continues to expand its footprint across Europe, following a series of site acquisitions and operational enhancements.

Craig Koch, Velocity Executive Vice President, Europe, said, “Germany is one of Europe’s most important clinical research markets, but it’s also one of the most operationally complex. We are proud to be strengthening our leadership team with Ines’s appointment who brings deep operational expertise, local market knowledge, and a clear track record of building successful, patient-centered site networks. She will play a pivotal role in advancing our growth ambitions in Germany and ensuring excellence across our European network.”

With a background spanning CROs, academic hospitals, and multinational site networks, Ines is known for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to building high-performing teams. She began her career as a medical assistant before moving into clinical research, with formative roles at GKM Gesellschaft für Therapieforschung and the University Hospital Leipzig.

Ines also played a key role in establishing the European footprint of Symbio Research, a U.S.-based, dermatology-focused CRO, demonstrating her ability to build operational infrastructure and drive growth in new markets.

Ines Abs, Velocity Country Head for Germany, said: “I’m excited to join a company that’s making a long-term commitment to Germany at a pivotal moment for clinical research. With the new Medical Research Act requiring that at least 5% of global clinical trial participants come from Germany, Velocity is perfectly positioned to deliver.

“Our integrated model offers faster access to trials for patients, acceleration and cost savings for sponsors, and a stronger research infrastructure overall, which are clear advantages. I look forward to helping unlock new opportunities as we expand Velocity’s presence across the region.”

Velocity now operates more than 70 integrated sites across the U.S. and Europe, with plans underway to expand further into Latin America. Its growing international footprint is backed by proprietary technology platforms and a centralized operating model that ensures consistent delivery and data integrity across global studies.
