AI in Recruitment
Summary
The year is 2025 and the world has gone mad since late 2022 when ChatGPT blessed (and cursed) our lives. We're living in a world of computers talking to computers trying to find great talent or find a new opportunity. There is less and less human to human conversations going on which in turn is starting to create a BIG DENT in the industry.- Author Company: Stirling Q&R

AI is everywhere, from creating music, LinkedIn profile pictures or even turning your co-workers into a dancing spiderman, we cannot escape it.
What else is there to do?
Embrace. Adapt. Learn. Adapt. Implement. Withdraw. Learn. Implement 2.0. Grow
Job hunting perspective:
LinkedIn is currently recording roughly 11,000 job applications per minute, this is staggering and a large chunk of it is down to AI automated applications. This puts huge amount of pressure on any candidate looking for a new opportunity as LinkedIn also shows how many people have applied, which will be putting a lot of candidates off.
They see time and time again, jobs they're absolutely qualified for getting AI rejection emails almost immediately, knowing that thier CV/Resume is being screened by an AI bot looking for certain keywords.
They're getting furious that all job adverts are looking the same, generic, boring formats that is generated by AI using no imagination, so turning to AI to alter their CV/Resume to try and get around the AI bots.
Employer perspective:
Endless amounts of job applications coming in day by day, and having to look at every single one, one by one to ensure they do not miss a good candidate. They're eyes are getting tired of seeing the same formatted CV/Resume coming in that has obviously been put through ChatGPT to add in a million key words.
A big sigh of sadness comes out as they yet again, reject yet another candidates that has nothing to do with the industry or function of the role, causing human error to come into play where they might have just skipped a great candidate.
They implement an AI screening bot to deal with the 100's and 100's of applications as they are working multiple vacancies as well as needed to do other daily tasks. Then, a huge wave on complaints comes rolling in about them using AI to create the job adverts and screening tools.
No one is a winner in this situation
Far too often we're getting caught up on replacing our day to day activities using AI as if it is some kind of very low paid assistant that can take all the blame.
We have AI generated CV/Resumes, using AI to apply to AI generated job adverts to be screened by AI bots and sent an auto AI generated rejection email back.
What we believe AI should be used for.
- Access to candidates through AI generated searching
- Research into companies that are well within the market of the recruiter
- CRM/ATS to store client and candidate information that can be provided to us as we need them
- Perhaps, note taking from voice and video calls...?
Nothing is better than human to human interaction, picking up the phone, sending a hand written email, meeting someone face to face, applying directly on a company website, getting a referral from someone directly within your network who can vouch for you.
We've stumbled into an age where we want to make lives easier for ourselves, but we cannot cut corner or make things way too automated in our lives with AI as we're losing touch.
