The Scientific Advice Programme provides not-for-profit chargeable consulting services to companies who have products in development that may be referred for future evaluation by NICE.

Fantastic opportunities are now available in Manchester and London to become an integral part of a high-profile decision-making process which directly impacts our public healthcare system. With exciting times ahead, this is the ideal opportunity to join an innovative team developing new processes and methodologies, and to work alongside leading experts in the field.


You will be responsible for drafting national guidance to the NHS on the use of medicines and other treatments. This will involve leading on all aspects of appraisals; including liaising with manufacturers and stakeholder groups, and working closely with leading academic experts in the field. You will analyse diverse, complex information and issues, and advise the independent Appraisal Committee of key technical issues, in order to support decision and policy making.


This is a great opportunity for an expert in health technology assessment to join our team as a technical adviser. A strategic thinker, you will be leading the development of high-quality methodological practice across the Appraisal Programme. You will ensure the technical quality of the outputs of the Appraisals Team: providing leadership on technical issues, managing a group of health technology analysts, and contributing to their ongoing training and development. In addition, you will provide direct advice to the Programme Director on a range of scientific issues.


Are you expert in health economics, clinical trial design, medical statistics or another HTA discipline? Two posts are available working as part of a team to produce advice to companies on their early clinical and health economic development plans. Liaising with clinical and health economic experts in the field you will formulate the responses to questions from the company. You will have excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to write technical reports to a high standard.


This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly skilled individual who understands how the demonstration of product value needs to be incorporated into development plans for health care products. You will be quick thinking, versatile and able to discuss complex scientific issues with global R+D teams, world leading academics and clinical experts. You may have progressed into a senior position, either in the health care industry, consultancy or academia, and are now looking to use your expertise in a high profile and challenging environment.

You will provide strategic scientific advice to industry, on the clinical and health economic plans for products in early development advising the Centre and Programme Directors on a wide range of technical and methodological issues.
