The war for talent has gone global

Leading pharma, biotech and medical devices organisations are contributing to a global survey to understand the challenges associated with recruiting, retaining and mobilising talent globally.

The survey, ‘Spotlight on: Recruitment and Retention. An employer perspective’, is in response to a report published by Real earlier this year. The report, ‘Spotlight on: Salaries, recruitment and retention’, highlighted over three quarters of people employed in the European pharma, biotech and med devices industries are considering not just leaving their current job, but also moving internationally for the right role.

The report also highlighted that whilst 90% of specialists consider salary critical when considering a new role, over 80% consider the scope and variety of a role, together with factors such as work/life balance, key to determining their happiness at work.

Gareth Rose, Real European Sector Head, said: “Our report showed that organisations face a very challenging future if they don’t understand and pre-empt how best to recruit and retain people for the short, mid and long-term. Our survey and roundtables, which are currently taking place across the US, Europe and Asia, are a great opportunity for companies to share insight and learn what other organisations are doing to manage this potential war for talent.”

The survey, along with a series of roundtables with senior executives across the world, will inform Real’s upcoming report to be published in early 2014, which promises to be the most comprehensive piece of research published on recruitment trends across the global pharma, biotech and medical devices industries.
