12th Biennial Signal Detection Conference

The Drug Safety Research Unit (DSRU) is proud to announce the 12th Biennial Signal Detection Conference.

Held at the Wellcome Collection, London on 15 – 17 October, the event promises to bring together the world’s leading experts in signal detection and signal management from  regulatory authorities, academia and the pharma industry

The Signal Detection Conference is the DSRU’s flagship event and will provide news on the latest developments in the field with a focus on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in signal detection.

Key highlights of this conference include:

  • Updates from key stakeholders including MHRA, Sentinel, DARWIN-EU, and more.
  • Focus on AI in signal detection, with discussions on the role of generative AI and ongoing work by CIOMS Working Group XIV to establish guidelines for AI in pharmacovigilance.
  • Case studies, best practices, and key learnings from other fields on the application of AI.
  • Presentation of the newly developed READUS-PV guidelines for reporting disproportionality scores in scientific literature.
  • Emphasis on maintaining a clinical perspective in signal detection.

Professor Saad Shakir, Director of the DSRU, said: “This event has become renowned for its dynamic discussions and opportunities for professional networking. We are looking forward to bringing together the best minds in signal detection from the across the world for intellectual discussion, debate and engagement.”

The event will begin with a pre-conference tutorial day on 15 October, designed to offer intensive tuition in signal detection and AI. This day is particularly suitable for newcomers but is also relevant for all delegates seeking to refresh their knowledge prior to the main conference. Topics covered will include the basic principles of signal detection, regulatory requirements, an introduction to AI, and the critical appraisal of AI solutions in this field.
