Roche Diabetes Care joins forces with Boots to offer free access to mySugr Pro diabetes management app

Roche Diabetes Care today announced that it is delighted to have the support of pharmacy-led, health and beauty retailer, Boots, in offering its customers free access to the mySugr Pro diabetes management app. The news comes within the same week that the app was accepted into the NHS app library.

In March 2020, the Pro version of the app was made freely available to all adults with diabetes in the UK to provide them with extra support in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic whilst helping to reduce the burden on the NHS. The mySugr app helps people living with diabetes to better understand and manage their diabetes by tracking blood glucose levels and other diabetes data.

Boots will reach customers by sharing information on Boots.com and through its social channels. Details on mySugr Pro offer will also be available via their partner site Alphega to raise awareness in independent pharmacies.

"Boots is a long-standing supporter of Roche Diabetes Care with a partnership that dates back over ten years”, said Michael Goetzl, Managing Director, Roche Diabetes Care UK & Ireland. “We are delighted to have the support of Boots on our mySugr Pro offer, which we hope will further support people with diabetes and healthcare professionals during these unprecedented times.”

The mySugr app allows users to enter blood glucose results from any monitor and it is already used by more than 2 million registered users worldwide.

Free access to mySugr Pro (usually £20.99 per person per year) will help improve the experience of digital / telephone appointments for people with diabetes by providing blood glucose monitoring information remotely. mySugr Pro allows users to enter data from any meter.

People with diabetes can download the mySugr app to their smartphone and unlock the Pro version using the activation code. The healthcare professional needs only provide an email address for people with diabetes to send PDF reports to.

Dr Claire Marriott, Medical Affairs Lead at Roche Diabetes Care UK & Ireland said: "Supporting people with diabetes is essential at this time. Tools that support someone living with diabetes in their glucose management can also enhance remote consultations. This then has the added benefit of freeing up valuable time of our healthcare professionals.”

The activation code for mySugr Pro and all further updates on our response to the COVID-19 pandemic can be found on our website www.accu-chek.co.uk. The offer can be redeemed until 30th September 2020 and will allow access to the app for one year.
