On September 14, 2020, Alfa Chemistry Catalysts, a specialized branch of Alfa Chemistry, announced to offer wide-ranged phosphine ligands which are extensively used in petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, organic synthesis, analysis and other areas.
A phosphine ligand is a type of ligand containing a P atom in an atom, a molecule or an ion, which is bonded to a central atom (metal or metalloid). The simplest phosphine ligand is triphenylphosphine. Back to the 1860s, people began to synthesize phosphine ligands and phosphine ligands were initially used for chiral catalysis in organic synthesis. Phosphine ligands are among the most widely studied ligands.
“Thanks to the development of C-X coupling reactions such as Buchwald-Hartwig reaction, the range and complexity of phosphine ligands has increased dramatically in recent years. The most common phosphine ligands are of the type PR3,” explains a senior scientist from Alfa Chemistry Catalysts.
Apart from that, phosphine ligands can also be divided into monodentate phosphine ligands, bidentate phosphine ligands and polydentate phosphine ligands based on the number of phosphorus atoms involved in coordination in the ligand.
Applications of phosphine ligands
In addition to serving as basic raw materials for complex catalysts of metals and phosphines, phosphine ligands have broad applications in petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, coating, rubber, organic synthesis, analysis, and even can be used as brighteners in dye processes, as polymerizers for polymers, as antioxidants for color film development, as stabilizers for polyepoxidation, or as analytical reagents.
