2021 PM Society Awards – Winners Announced

Havas Lynx Group and Syneos Health Communications take the most agency Golds AstraZeneca and Edwards LifeSciences top the client leader board

The PM Society’s 35th annual awards was held on 18th March 2021. For the first time in 35 years we were unable to meet for a live event. Instead, over 1000 people met online on an events platform to view finalists’ work, meet the sponsors and watch the show. The ceremony was hosted by PM Society Chairs Caroline Benson and Colin Williams and Head Judge Sarah Sowerby from Wordbird. Alan Dedicoat was a familiar voice announcing the finalists and winners and there was some spectacular magic from Matt Parro during the interval and interviews with Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman, Ogilvy and Ben Osborn, UK MD, Pfizer.

This year there were 21 Gold Awards to give away, including new categories celebrating Brand Campaigns on a smaller budget, won by FCB Health Europe, the best Covid Communications won by Havas Lynx Group and best agency Creative Culture, won by VCCP Health. It was also the first year for Effectiveness Awards – in which entries were judged on both their creativity and implementation as well as the outcomes of the programmes and campaigns.

The agency taking home most Golds was Havas Lynx Group with six Golds, five Silver and three Bronze awards. Syneos Health Communications took three Golds and McCann, VCCP and W20 Group all took home two Golds. Other Gold winners on the agency side were BBH, Cherry, earthware, FCB Health Europe and Page & Page & Partners. Best in Show, as chosen by Head Judge Sarah Sowerby, was awarded to W2O group for “Breaking the cycle of bad asthma behaviours”.

On the client side, AstraZeneca was top of the leader board with four Golds, one Silver and a Bronze Award. Edwards Lifesciences took three Golds and Roche and Sanofi Genzyme both received two Golds. Other winning pharma companies were Accord UK, Ferring, Janssen, Norgine, Novartis, Novo Nordisk and Vifor.

There was special mention for the winning pro bono campaigns by Hamell and NAKEDHEALTH for the charity PAPYRUS. These were part of the PM Society’s Creativity for Good initiative and details are available on the PM Society website.
