Amerigo Scientific Introduces SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG Antibody Test Kit to Researchers
Amerigo Scientific, a distribution company focused on providing critical products and services to the biomedical and life science research communities, recently launches the SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG Antibody Test Kit for the qualitative detection and differentiation of Immunoglobulin M(IgM) and Immunoglobulin G(IgG) antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in human serum, plasma (heparin, dipotassium EDTA, and sodium citrate), and venous whole blood (heparin, dipotassium EDTA, and sodium citrate). This kit has received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the FDA for use as an aid in identifying individuals with recent or prior infections with SARS-CoV-2.
This SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG Antibody Test Kit is designed to help identify people who have an adaptive immune response to SARS-CoV-2, indicating recent or previous infections. It is not yet known how long antibodies can last after infection, and whether the presence of antibodies will produce protective immunity. It should not be used to diagnose acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. Testing is limited to laboratories certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), 42 U.S.C. §263a, that meet requirements to perform moderate or high complexity tests.
The qualitative test detects and differentiates both IgM and IgG antibodies against the virus that causes COVID-19 in human serum, plasma, and venipuncture whole blood specimen samples. It is noted that this SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG Antibody Test Kit is only for use under the Food and Drug Administration's Emergency Use Authorization.
"This is an important step for us to introduce our new product segment with launch of SARS-CoV-2 IgM/IgG Antibody Test Kit, as this reliable kit can help laboratories perform the test and make contribution to the fight against the COVID-19. Amerigo Scientific is glad to help bring this to market, and hope promote breakthroughs in SARS-CoV-2 related research." said Nina Cooper, Ph.D., the chief scientist at Amerigo Scientific. "This sensitive kit is easy to use (getting results in 15 min) with low risk, and combined with our deep expertise, perfect technical support and thoughtful customer services, it can help our customers to play critical roles as part of the global response to the fight to COVID-19 pandemic." she added.
