Press Release

Medios AG adopts sustainability strategy and plans climate neutrality by 2023

Berlin, December 16, 2021 - Medios AG ("Medios"), the leading provider of Specialty Pharma Solutions in Germany, published its sustainability strategy today. It contains a comprehensive sustainability program to be implemented by 2025. Progress is measured regularly by means of defined sustainability key performance indicators (KPIs), some of which are also included in the remuneration of the Executive Board. An important goal of the sustainability program is climate neutrality, which Medios aims to achieve at its sites by 2023. In addition to implementing various efficiency measures, the Company intends to switch to green electricity, while compensating for unavoidable emissions. To anchor the topic of sustainability in the Company's organization, Medios also established a Sustainability Committee in the fall of 2021 chaired by the CEO of Medios AG.

Matthias Gaertner, CEO of Medios AG: "As a responsible company, we strive for sustainable business practices that promote economic, ecological and social aspects. This also reflects our vision: to manage complex diseases more easily. To this end, we want to ensure the best nationwide supply of specialty pharmaceuticals for patients. We have taken a close look at the diverse impacts of our actions, defined corresponding strategic goals and adopted a comprehensive sustainability program for the coming years. One of our primary goals is to become climate-neutral at our own sites by 2023."

Medios AG's sustainability strategy is based on the Company's previous ESG activities such as the implementation of a Code of Conduct, the voluntary preparation of a Sustainability Report and the signing of the UN Global Compact. It covers five strategic fields of action: Governance, Products and Services, Employees, Environment and Social Responsibility. For each of these fields of action, the strategy program contains corresponding goals and operational measures. The achievement of objectives is measured on the basis of defined KPIs and is linked to specific timelines. In this way, progress can be determined on a regular basis and measures can be adjusted if required. The implementation of the program is monitored by the Sustainability Committee, which consists of the members of the Medios AG Executive Board, representatives of all specialist departments and one representative from each of the operating divisions. The committee is also responsible for defining the focal points of the strategy. The progress of the strategy implementation is presented annually in the Nonfinancial Consolidated Statement of Medios AG.

The strategy process was based on a materiality analysis that Medios conducted in the 2020 financial year to identify sustainability-relevant topics. The detailed analysis was carried out in numerous workshops with employees from the various Medios companies. Therefore, the sustainability strategy is already broadly anchored in the Medios Group.
