Anticounterfeiting in the spotlight as MM Packaging sponsors PHARMAP 2023 roundtable

Leading secondary packaging supplier MM Packaging is looking forward to sharing its anticounterfeiting and serialisation expertise at the upcoming Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Packaging (PHARMAP) 2023 Congress.

David González Paino, Technical Account Manager for MM Packaging’s Pharma & Healthcare Unit, will open a roundtable discussion on 13 June at the PHARMAP 2023 Congress in Geneva, focusing on the steps that brands can take to protect their products.

Mr Gonzalez’s presentation at the roundtable, which is being sponsored by MM Packaging, will cover how anticounterfeiting measures have evolved, touching on topics from serialisation to PROFOUND™ Micro-optics.

The roundtable will be moderated by Frederic Albinyana from Crane Micro-optics, whose experience in anticounterfeiting will lend expert insights into key issues facing the pharmaceutical packaging sector.

Other presentation topics will include a case study in fighting falsification, futureproofing pharma supply chains against counterfeits, and using technological innovation and cooperation between customs and the pharma industry to combat illicit medicines.

Speaking ahead of the Congress, Mr Gonzalez said: “Implementing serialisation has been one of the biggest recent developments for pharma and healthcare packaging. Combined with other anticounterfeiting features, we’re now seeing packaging emerge with significantly increased security features.

“Through our exclusive partnership with Crane Micro-optics, we are bringing next-generation anticounterfeiting technology to brands throughout the pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging worlds. The PROFOUND™ Micro-optics technology is perfect for applying to labels and packaging to ensure patient safety, providing the perfect balance of brand aesthetics and product security.

“We are delighted to be sponsoring this roundtable and are very excited to meet the audience that will attend, as well experts specialising in technical areas of the pharma industry.”

The PHARMAP Congress is an annual event that brings together pharma professionals to learn about emerging industry trends and establish new partnerships.

This year’s event is expected to attract more than 250 people from across the pharmaceutical sector and will cover key issues facing the industry including counterfeiting, pharma 4.0, and the trends and new developments in pharmaceutical packaging design.
