PAUSE Live Launches National ‘Know Your Normal’ Campaign Led by Dr. Shirin

12 June 2025

The team behind PAUSE Live, the UK’s largest event dedicated to women’s health, is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 awareness campaign: ‘Know Your Normal’—a national call for women to better understand their bodies, trust their instincts, and seek the support they deserve when it comes to intimate and hormonal health.

Fronted by Dr. Shirin Lakhani, a GP and specialist in intimate health, known for her groundbreaking work in treating conditions like Lichen Sclerosus. the campaign aims to break taboos, raise awareness of underdiagnosed conditions and empower women to ask the right questions and advocate for themselves in medical settings.

“The conversation around intimate health should never be taboo,” says Dr. Shirin. “Too many women suffer in silence, are misdiagnosed, or are told their symptoms are just something they have to live with. ‘Know Your Normal’ aims to change that.”

A Silent Epidemic: Why ‘Know Your Normal’ Matters

One of the campaign’s key focus areas is Lichen Sclerosus (LS)—a chronic and often misdiagnosed condition affecting the skin of the vulva. It causes severe itching, pain, scarring, and discomfort during intimacy, often mistaken for other issues or dismissed altogether.

“Far too many women suffer for years without a diagnosis—or give up on treatment after conventional methods like steroid creams fail to provide relief,” says Dr. Shirin. “We want women to know that effective, non-invasive treatments do exist, and no concern is ever too small or too embarrassing to talk about.”

As part of the campaign, Dr. Shirin recently demonstrated a live treatment on ITV’s This Morning, showing how quick and painless new therapies like Morpheus8V and the O-Shot (PRP therapy), which offer long-term symptom relief through non-invasive technology that rejuvenates and repairs damaged tissue.

These groundbreaking treatments are helping redefine the way women experience care—replacing silence and stigma with support and science.

“When women understand what’s normal for their bodies, they’re empowered to act when something isn’t right,” adds Dr. Shirin. “We want to give women back their voice, their health—and their quality of life.”

Live in Conversation: Dr. Shirin at Home House – 8th July 2025

As part of the campaign rollout, Dr. Shirin will headline an exclusive panel event at Home House, Soho, London, on Monday 8th July 2025, joined by leading voices in gynaecology, menopause, and broader women’s health.

We’re thrilled to announce that joining Dr Shirin on 8th July for our "Know Your Normal" panel are two inspiring and trailblazing doctors, each bringing a powerful voice to our campaign's mission of empowering women to understand and care for their vulval and wider health.

Dr Sarah Jacques, a GP with nearly two decades of experience in East Sussex, brings not only her medical expertise but also her lived experience of navigating burnout and rebuilding her career with purpose and compassion. A tireless advocate for women in medicine and underserved communities, Dr Jacques holds leadership roles with the Doctors Association UK and the Medical Women’s Federation, and is deeply involved in grassroots efforts through her CIC, Sussex Outreach Support.

Joining her is Dr Julie Hammond, a multi-award-winning NHS GP and the visionary founder of mamAR. Dr Hammond is a leading voice in women's health, health equity, and postpartum care. Her work spans across the NHS and community advocacy—championing better outcomes for the Afro-Caribbean community, shaping maternity care policy, and inspiring innovation through the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. Her upcoming book on postpartum recovery is eagerly anticipated for its empowering message.

Together with Dr Shirin, this exceptional panel will explore how women can reconnect with their bodies, recognise what’s normal for them, and advocate confidently for their health. It’s a conversation not to be missed.

This invitation-only event will explore critical questions such as:

  • How well do we really understand our bodies—and how can we do better?
  • What should we be asking our GPs when things don’t feel right?
  • How far have we come in diagnosing and treating women’s health conditions?
  • Why is it essential to look beyond hormones when considering whole-body wellness?
  • What innovations are making life easier for women at every stage of life?

This dynamic, solutions-focused discussion promises to offer practical insight, personal stories, and clinical expertise from some of the UK’s most trusted health professionals.
