LIEBHERR expands UK laboratory portfolio with seven high precision countertop and fully integrated under bench models

Liebherr, specialists in commercial refrigeration, announces the expansion of its UK laboratory and healthcare range with the introduction of seven high-performance, compact countertop and fully integrated under bench models.

Engineered specifically for the rigorous requirements of clinical, research and pharmaceutical environments, the new additions comprise two Performance countertop units and five Performance fully integrated under bench appliances, including specialised units for the storage of explosive and highly flammable substances.

Delivering exceptional performance, energy efficiency and ease of use, these appliances combine advanced refrigeration technology with practical design. The launch directly addresses the increasing demand for high-density storage solutions that maintain uncompromising thermal stability within space-constrained laboratory footprints.

High-performance countertop solutions for space-critical applications

The new countertop laboratory appliances, comprising the SRCse 801 Refrigerator and SFCse 801 Freezer, provide exceptional compact storage solutions. These units are engineered for versatile placement, fitting securely either under or on top of laboratory worktops to maximise available space without sacrificing the precision of professional-grade refrigeration.

Both models feature an intuitive digital user interface with touch-control navigation and a text-supported menu flow for precise parameter adjustment. Despite their compact dimensions, these units incorporate critical safety features including a mechanical lock for unauthorised access protection and a dedicated feedthrough for external sensors, facilitating secondary independent monitoring and validation.

Fully integrated under bench systems for seamless laboratory installation

For facilities requiring a built-in configuration, the new fully integrated under bench range includes the SRUvg 1001 Refrigerator, the SRUvg 1011 Refrigerator with glass door, the SFUsg 1001 Freezer and the specialised SRUfg 1001 and SFUfg 1001 flammable storage units.

These appliances feature front-facing ventilation systems, allowing for seamless integration into furniture recesses without the requirement for additional ventilation clearance at the rear or ceiling of the unit. This ensures a flush fit within laboratory cabinetry while maintaining optimal heat exchange.

Engineered for precision, safety and operational efficiency

Consistent refrigeration performance is fundamental to ensuring the integrity of temperature-sensitive biologicals and reagents. The new appliances deliver reliable temperature stability with a maximum deviation of ±3 K for refrigerators and ±5 K for freezers. Storage reliability is further enhanced by corrosion-resistant coated steel shelves designed to ensure consistent air circulation and temperature stability. These shelves are engineered with a secure pull-out stop to prevent accidental removal or tipping, making them ideal for high-traffic, fast-paced environments.

To protect sensitive contents from accidental cryo-damage, a built-in SafetyDevice function serves as a critical fail-safe, preventing interior temperatures from dropping below +2°C. This is supported by visual and audible alarms integrated with an alarm relay, enabling the forwarding of critical notifications to a central laboratory control centre or Building Management System (BMS). For comprehensive audit traceability and regulatory compliance, the appliances feature an integrated DataLogger that records up to five years of temperature history and alarm events. This is complemented by a display that provides immediate access to minimum and maximum temperatures and detailed power failure information upon restoration.

To support modern data requirements, the units are connectivity-ready for Liebherr’s SmartMonitoring technology. This secure, cloud-based system provides remote oversight of measurement data and appliance statuses, ensuring all information is accurately logged and easily accessible for auditing. Units allow for the retrofitting of LAN or WLAN modules for seamless BMS integration. All models are expertly engineered to meet the highest safety standards, complying with IEC 61010-2-011, while flammable storage variants are specifically certified for the secure storage of volatile materials.

The new models are further optimised for high-frequency professional use, prioritising both hygiene and operational efficiency. The antimicrobial handle is treated with specialised substances to inhibit the transmission of pathogens, reducing bacteria by up to 99.99% (according to ISO 22196:2011), while the seamless, easy-to-clean inner liner with large radii facilitates rapid and thorough decontamination. Maintenance requirements are further reduced by the SmartFrost system in freezer units, which significantly minimises ice build-up.

Compliance and lifecycle assurance

All Liebherr appliances built for the laboratory are expertly engineered to be fully compliant and ATEX certified. As with all Performance series models, the new appliances conform to safety standard IEC 61010-2-011. Unlike many of its competitors, Liebherr offers a 5-year guarantee on appliances purchased with SmartMonitoring and a minimum life cycle of 15 years.

Whether outfitting a large research facility or a small clinical unit, customers can rely on these appliances for outstanding energy efficiency, user-friendly features, maximum reliability, safety and the premium quality that defines every Liebherr product.
