  • With this partnership, Schenker Technologies strengthens its standing as a trustworthy supplier and partner in the growing digital health ecosystem.

HAMBURG, Germany, September 08, 2021 / B3C newswire / -- Hamburg based digital health growth company RetroBrain R&D GmbH (“RetroBrain”) announces initial strategic cooperation with Schenker Technologies, a leading provider of IT and gaming hardware and the latest virtual and mixed reality technologies, and development grant for its second product line, “memoreHome”.

Two months after announcing their successful completion of a multi-year scientific evaluation with the statutory health insurance fund BARMER and the subsequent reimbursement decision for digital health product “memoreCARE” in the stationary elderly care setting, which is among the first videogames worldwide certified as a medical device (MDR), RetroBrain now announces two further major accomplishments:

First milestone: a partnership with industry leader Schenker Technologies
In order to support and accelerate growth in both the stationary as well as the ambulatory elderly care setting, RetroBrain and German gaming and IT hardware specialist Schenker Technologies (www.schenker-tech.de) are announcing a multi-year strategic partnership to outsource Retrobrain’s fulfillment and hardware management to Schenker Technologies in Leipzig. Schenker Technologies will offer a full-service package for the “memoreBox”, from the management of the hardware to the shipping to contracted nursing homes, and, in the future individual clients or service providers in the ambulatory setting.

Dr. Christian Goergen (CEO of RetroBrain) commented: “More and more nursing homes all throughout Germany want to use memoreCare in prevention and health promotion, but managing and scaling our hardware fulfillment accordingly became a rising challenge for a software and healthcare R&D provider like us. With this partnership, we will be able to focus even more on developing our certified therapeutic software and can grow much faster as we expect rising demand for our digital health solutions.”

Schenker Technologies Founder and CEO Robert Schenker is looking forward on the cooperation: “Schenker is convinced of the technical, as well as therapeutic and the content-related design of the memore video games of RetroBrain and locates high synergy potentials of both companies in the area of hardware. Working with innovative players in the German digital health landscape is an important part of our strategy for the coming years. Therefore, we are very happy to work with one of the pioneers in the digital health ecosystem.”

Manouchehr Shamsrizi, Co-Founder of RetroBrain R&D: “Schenker Technologies is one of RetroBrain’s most longstanding supporters. Robert Schenker and his team believed, from our very beginning as a university-based research project, in our vision of utilizing the power of gaming for healthy ageing and the idea of an inclusive approach of joyfulness at any age. It is with great pleasure that we now join forces in a partnership which also demonstrates the potential of cross-industry collaborations for healthcare of the future. Given our plans for both, extending and expanding our preventive and social impact through our recently initiated internationalization as well as our upcoming “memoreHome”-edition, our partnership with Schenker Technologies allows us to implement our visions.”

Second Milestone: Public grant for further development of “memoreHome”
The second significant milestone for RetroBrain is the successful application for a grant of ca. €280.000 by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure for the next development phase of “memoreHome”; specifically, the grant will contribute to the internal software project “SaMSaS” to prepare the product for the launch onto the highly attractive ambulatory care market. In particular, a new ActivityGame will be developed within the SaMSaS project. This game is specially tailored to the requirements of the target group for everyday training with special exercises such as stretching, bending over or upper body rotation.

RetroBrain COO Adalbert Pakura is very pleased that the project was approved and confirms it’s successful started July 1st: “We often get approached for an ambulatory version  of our therapeutic video games by family members of elderly people that are being cared for at home. Now, with the grant of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, we can make a big step towards a product that is tailored specifically to elderly people in their own living rooms.”
