Renowned Mental Health Leader Joy Chamberlain Appointed to UKAT Board of Directors
The move signals strategic growth in mental health and addiction treatment sector
The UKAT Group, one of the UK’s most prominent providers of private addiction and mental health treatment services, is delighted to announce the appointment of Joy Chamberlain to its Board of Directors. The move underscores UKAT’s continued commitment to clinical excellence, growth and leadership in the delivery of life-changing behavioural health treatment services.
Joy Chamberlain brings a formidable track record of over 27 years in senior healthcare leadership roles and is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the UK mental health sector.
Throughout her career Joy has led organisations that deliver complex, regulated mental health services across diverse patient groups, consistently championing quality, innovation, and compassionate care.
Joy’s leadership has been instrumental in some of the most significant transactions in the healthcare industry. As CEO of Partnerships in Care and later Elysium Healthcare, she successfully led two major sales processes, the first to Acadia Healthcare and the latter to Ramsay Healthcare. These milestones helped shape the UK’s independent mental healthcare landscape, integrating multiple services into cohesive, clinically-led organisations that continue to serve thousands of individuals across the UK.
“We are absolutely honoured to welcome Joy Chamberlain to the UKAT Board,” said Daniel Gerrard, CEO of The UKAT Group. “Joy’s exceptional experience, particularly in leading high-growth organisations through complex regulatory environments, is perfectly aligned with our mission to expand and diversify UKAT’s service offering in response to growing national demand, and Joy’s strategic counsel will be invaluable.”
The UKAT Group operates a nationwide network of residential rehabilitation centres and outpatient services, providing evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders, behavioural addictions, and co-occurring mental health conditions. The organisation is known for its commitment to person-centred care, long-term recovery outcomes, and reducing stigma around addiction.
Joy’s appointment marks a significant step forward as UKAT strengthens its governance and strategic direction to meet the evolving needs of its clients.
“UKAT represents the very best of what private healthcare should offer—clinical integrity, accessibility, and a deeply human approach to treatment,” said Joy Chamberlain. “I’m excited to join the Board at such a pivotal time and to support the team as we strive to increase access to world-class care for individuals and families across the UK.”
Joy’s appointment comes shortly after The UKAT Group was acquired by London-based private equity firm Sullivan Street Partners, whose investment and Board-level strategic direction is set to be the spring board for major expansion over the next five years.
