Innovative Trials partners with Alzheimer’s Research UK to raise money for life-changing dementia research

Alzheimer’s Research UK has been selected as the official 2021 charity partner of Hertfordshire-based company, Innovative Trials.

The company, which specialises in clinical trial patient recruitment and community engagement, is aiming to raise at least £5,000 for the charity over the next 12 months. The funds raised will support groundbreaking dementia research for a world free from the fear, harm, and heartbreak of dementia.

In the UK, almost one million people are thought to be living with dementia and this is expected to rise to two million by 2050. Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity committed to developing life-changing treatments and cures - a mission shared by Innovative Trials.

Kate Shaw, founder and CEO of Innovative Trials, said: “Dementia is a devastating and cruel condition that slowly strips people of their identities and, ultimately, their lives. Having worked with clients to recruit patients into clinical trials for potential Alzheimer’s treatments, our employees have seen for themselves the impact that dementia can have on patients and their families. The only way to make change is through research to better understand the causes, improve diagnosis and develop treatments and cures. Each and every member of staff at Innovative Trials feels passionately about supporting this noble cause, which is why we’ve committed to raising £5,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.”

Innovative Trials is currently finalising its fundraising calendar for the year ahead, which so far includes plans for a bake-off, firewalk, plank challenge, sports day and gaming marathon.

Sophie Griffiths, Corporate Partnerships Officer for Alzheimer’s Research UK, said: “We’re delighted that Innovative Trials has chosen Alzheimer’s Research UK as its charity partner. Sadly, dementia affects us all but thanks to companies like Innovative Trials, we’re able to take one step closer to making breakthroughs in dementia research possible. The support of clinical trials and studies provides a crucial lifeline to the progression of our research and will help to bring about life-changing treatments for people affected by the condition sooner.

“We can’t wait to work with Innovative Trials on some of the fantastic fundraising activities its staff has planned throughout the partnership!”

Innovative Trials is committed to supporting charitable causes and has previously raised £5,000 for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. Activities included raffles, a bake-off, the sale of unused office furniture and a virtual London to Brighton walk during lockdown.

Innovative Trials’ fundraising efforts support its overarching mission to enable all patients to have faster access to life-improving treatments. For more information visit www.innovativetrials.com
